Owing to particular circumstances the official registration period for all examinations scheduled to take place in the winter semester 2017/18 has been extended until Tuesday, 16th January 2018. Students who omitted to register on time for exams in this semester, but who would still like to take exams are invited to register via e-mail at wiwi-pa-bsc@rub.de (for Bachelor students) or at wiwi-pa-msc@rub.de (for Master students). It is no longer possible to register for exams in this semester via FlexNow. Please note we will only consider applications received before 16th January 2018, 11:59PM.

Examinations

The official FlexNow registration period for examinations in the winter semester 2017/2018 is from 11th December 2017 until 5th January 2018.

The “change of mind” period in which students can cancel their registration for exams via FlexNow is a week before the respective examination is scheduled to take place. Please note that different registration dates apply for certain modules.

Examination Registration Application procedure for first semester students of Bachelor and Master degree programs

In order to register for examinations, first semester students of Bachelor and Master degree programmes are obliged to complete the application form “Antrag auf Zulassung zu den Fachprüfungen”(pdf-file) and hand it in to the Examinations Office. They will then be officially registered in FlexNow.

The examination registration period for the winter semester 2017/18 in which all such applications must be submitted is from 9th October until 20th October 2017.

All students who are either beginning a new degree program, changing from one type of degree program to another (e.g. change from dual-subject Bachelor to single-subject Bachelor) and/or changing from one qualification to another (e.g. change from B.Sc. to M.Sc.) are requested to submit the official application form to the Examinations Office

Bachelor Thesis

Allocation and issue of Bachelor theses is managed centrally via Wiwi-BOS, the Faculty for Management and Economics’ Bachelor-Organization-System. The Wiwi-BOS team will hold an information event on 4th September 2017 at 11am in lecture hall HGC 40 to inform you about the procedure for the submission of a Bachelor thesis.

The period for application and submission of theme preferences by the students via WiwiBOS is usually in the holidays prior to the semester in which they intend to write their thesis. For the winter semester 2017/18 it is from 4th September until 1st October 2017.

The allocation of themes, starting dates and second supervisors for the winter semester 2017/18 takes place from 10th until 13th October 2017. All admission requirements must be submitted to the Examinations Office before this date.

Students, who have registered for their Bachelor thesis via Wiwi-BOS, are requested to submit their thesis by Monday, 18th December 2017 – unless they have been granted an extension. According to § 22, section 1 of the Examination Regulations the thesis is to be submitted twofold in written form and also in electronic form. The written form must be bound. The electronic form can be either a DVD, CD or USB-Stick. Alternatively, according to the same paragraph the thesis may also be sent by normal post. Here the post date is applicable. We recommend that you send your thesis by registered post and keep the receipt thereof.

The Examinations Office will forward the Bachelor thesis to the respective Chair. After the written thesis has been graded the respective Chair will invite you to an oral examination. According to § 21, section 6 of the Examination Regulations this examination must take place within 5 weeks of the thesis submission date.

If you submit a doctor’s certificate while you are writing your thesis, you will receive an extended submission date from the Examinations Office and the same rules and regulations as set out above will apply.


Certificates and Graduation Ceremony

Bachelor certificates for the winter semester 2017/18 can be collected at the Examinations Office from 13th March 2018.

Before this date the message “Die Bachelorprüfung ist noch nicht bestanden“ will appear in FlexNow even though all examinations have been completed.

The graduation ceremony for all Bachelor and Master students who have completed their course of studies in the winter semester 2017/18 will be held on 4th May 2018. Invitations to
this event will be issued mid-April. During the ceremony all Master students will be presented with their certificates.
