Students scintillate as business consultant – Manager are delighted and already planning the realization of ideas


The final event of the Sales & Marketing Department on 22th December 2016 of the master course “Sales in Business-to-Business Markets” was a great success – for the students as well as for the representatives of the companies.
The event was opened by the chancellor off the Ruhr-Universität Bochum Dr. Christina Reinhardt, the dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics Prof. Dr. Helmut Karl and the chair holder of the Sales & Marketing Department Prof. Dr. Christian Schmitz.
In October, the managers of the partner companies Daimler, Eickhoff, Rhenus Logistics, thyssenkrupp, TÜV Rheinland and United Parcel Service (UPS) assigned realistic and strategical tasks from the everyday life of a salesman. It was about real entrepreneurial challenges, for which practicable solutions had to be found.
Just like genuine managers, the students had to approach the practical problems.
They were allowed to go to the company, where they had talks with the sales employees, thus the opportunity to get a deeper insight into the company.

After two months, the students from the area of Sales Management, Management and business psychology had to present their results such as managers would do. They managed to perform this task more than well.
There were not only presentations of the student teams but also a subsequent discussion, between the team members as well as with the managers. For the managers of the international companies, the event was a good opportunity to experience the excellent performance and skills of the future graduates. They were deeply impressed!
