Welcome to the website of the Honorary Professorship of Energy Economics and Politics

The focus of research and teaching are the economic issues in the national and international energy sectors with specific emphasis on all energy markets - electricity, gas, oil and coal. Likewise, the political framework for the energy sector is considered and its impact on investment decisions ex ante and ex post is analyzed. Through my many years of practice in the energy sector and my present work as Chief Economist of RWE AG, the close integration of theory and practice is a special concern. Not only Germany, but also other European countries and US states are characterized by major energy transitions. The financing of these transitions has so far hardly been researched although it is of great importance to ensure successful and affordable transitions; hence, it is intended to make this topic a high priority.
