Zonta-WiWi-Preis

WHAT IS ZONTA?

Zonta International was founded in the United States as the first female service organization in 1919. The first German club was established in Hamburg in 1931. The name Zonta is borrowed from the symbol language of the Sioux indians and means to behave with integrity and discretion. The foundresses chose it as a standard for their own behaviour.
Worldwide there are more than 1200 clubs in 63 countries with more than 30000 members who act independently of confession, partisanship and ideology.
Zonta puts special emphasis on diversity by mixing professions, talents, generations and different socializations.

Zonta International seeks to advance the status of women worldwide by improving the legal, political and economic status of women through service and advocacy.
Beside the charitable commitment and international understanding a main objective of Zonta International is the professional support of young women. For this purpose, scholarships and prizes are awarded worldwide. Zonta Bochum also awards the Young Women in Public Affairs Award, which focusses on socially engaged pupils and trainees between 16-19 years.
